GLORIOUS GOODWOOD – TV TIPS (WEDNESDAY)

13:50 Goodwood Last seasons winner, Star Rider hasn’t really fired this term and is nine pounds higher this time around. One of two from the yard of Hughie Morrision she will likely show more today but stablemate Aurora Gray makes more appeal and is surely the least exposed of the two. Taws came second in this back in 2015 off a seven pounds higher mark and arrives here on the back of a win over hurdles. From a yard firing she looks a decent shout to run into the money again. Hawkerland and Akavit are flying at present and deserve a mention in what looks an open race. TAWS (E/W)

14:25 Goodwood Mark Johnston has taken three of the last ten renewals of this contest and is mob handed in an attempt to better that stat, of his entrants perhaps Sofia’s Rock makes most appeal and a repeat of her third at Newmarket last time would surely see him going close. Godolphin also take the mob handed approach and have four runners, Secret Adviser looks the first string however and his profile screams at a race like this. Wolf Country will find this much easier than some of his most recent assignments and could go well, all things considered though, Secret Adviser gets the nod. SECRET ADVISER (WIN)

15:00 Goodwood Happy Like A Fool arrived at Royal Ascot as many peoples banker of the meeting, ultimately second she lost very little in defeat and this downhill track may see her in a better light. Havana Grey made all in a Listed race at Sandown last time, a repeat of that here would pose a serious question of the rest but this ground may be tricky for her. Battle Of Jericho has plenty to find to figure but represents O’Brien, further improvement looks likely but Happy Like A Fool can bounce back. HAPPY LIKE A FOOL (WIN) – NAP

15:35 Goodwood A strong renewal of the Sussex Stakes and an intriguing clash between 2000 Guineas winner Churchill and leading older miler Ribchester. The latter has won three of his last five at the highest level and looked an unlucky loser in this last season, described by trainer Richard Fahey as the best he’s ever trained a massive run has to be expected and he is the one to beat. Churchill failed to fire at Royal Ascot and lost his unbeaten record as a result, workmanlike at the Curragh the time before he almost looked in need of further and a career best is required here. Zelzal is an interesting French challenger, he looks a place player but Ribchester can account for these and Churchill looks his only danger. RIBCHESTER (WIN)
