GLORIOUS GOODWOOD – TV TIPS (TUESDAY)

13:50 Goodwood We kick off a brand new month with a brand new festival of racing and we aim to start this five-day prestigious event with a winner. There may be seventeen runners set to go to post but I can’t see past the current favourite Garcia. Trainer Richard Fahey has been bagging winners left, right and centre recently and with the addition of Ryan Moore in the irons Garcia should improve massively to take a strong hand in this contest. If Khairaat can put his disappointing Royal Ascot effort behind him he’ll be able to pose a few questions of the favourite but where the horse is at after such a devastating loss is up for debate. Horses at much bigger odds Dark Red and Tha’ir could do better than the bookies prices may suggest and with could potentially squeeze into place money. GARCIA (WIN)

14:25 Goodwood On display may be a few future stars and whichever horse wins this contest is likely to compete at the top table going forward. There’s four unbeaten horses out of the field and the selection lies within this quartet. Expert Eye looks the one to have the most impressive victory to their name however trainer Sir Michael Stoute doesn’t have his horses in great form as his stable seems to have gone off the boil. Worthy of his spot as the favourite but looks one to take on. You can never discount an Aidan O’Brien trained runner, especially an unbeaten two year old and that’s why we’re siding with Seahenge. He only won his one and only race by a neck but he showed battling qualities and serious room for development. He was very green that day and showed he had a tonne of potential. If he continues to improve like most in the know expect he’ll be very hard to beat. SEAHENGE (WIN)

15:00 Goodwood A return to seven furlongs is what Limato seems to have been crying out for this term and although this looks a competitive affair it doesn’t seem to be as star studded as his last two contests. The likes of the Godolphin duo of Home Of The Brave and Dream Castle could throw up a challenge as could Ballydoyle’s Spirit Of Valor but this looks like Limato’s to lose and we certainly hope he doesn’t. LIMATO (WIN) – NAP

15:35 Goodwood The premier showpiece race of the day sees Big Orange look to retain his title as Goodwood Cup winner for the third time in a row. As a former winner he ticks all the relevant boxes and it’s going to take a monumental effort for one of his rivals to stop him from winning once again. The downside however is that Big Oranges chances are reflected in his very short odds. A highly likely winner but as far as a betting prospect goes we’ll have to look for some value elsewhere. Wicklow Brave may be eight years old but he’s put in some fantastic efforts on both the flat and over hurdles. He’s ultra-consistent and always puts his best foot forward but isn’t guaranteed to get his head in front at the winning line and he maybe vulnerable to younger legs. Both Qewy and Sheikhzayedroad look to put in promising efforts again today. Qewy returned from a lengthy break from the track to put in a decent effort at Royal Ascot. There’s no doubt he’ll improve for his return to action and looks to have enough room to progress being relatively lightly raced for a seven year old. QEWY (E/W)
