GLORIOUS GOODWOOD – TV TIPS (THURSDAY)

13:50 Goodwood Addeybb looks likely to go off favourite and with a previous win on softer going he ticks boxes that most of his rivals don’t. A likely contender but in such a large field you HAVE to find each way value. The blue silks of Godolphin are set to be represented by a trio of horses and with all three of them currently priced at 10/1 each the odds don’t make one more fancied than the others. Never the less I’m siding with a horse who’s worst results in a four race career have come on firmer ground. A seventh in The Britannia is far from a catastrophic result but I feel we’ll see Leader’s Legacy improve on his Royal Ascot exploits. Lightly raced and likely to improve for the step up in trip hopefully we’ll see a strong showing from the horse charging out of stall number two. Grey Britain may out run his big price and might be an outsider worthy of note. LEADER’S LEGACY (E/W)

14:25 Goodwood The second race on the card gives a handful of three year olds the opportunity to take on their older counterparts. A quartet of three year olds are scheduled to line up and I like two of them. The very lightly raced Aljezeera makes just his third career start and has bags of potential. Luca Cumani tends to start to get his horses in full working order at this time of year and clearly this nicely bred youngster has been handled with kid gloves. She obviously has a tonne of questions to answer but if she takes after her father (Frankel) she’ll have her rivals flagging behind. Ryan Moore might be Ballydoyle’s number one jockey but he opts to ride a Sir Michael Stoute trained runner instead. Don’t let that peturb you though as Ballydoyle runner Wild Irish Rose still has a great chance. Looking to make it three wins in a row after a victory in a trappy contest at Leopardstown last time out. That race was on softer going so a bit of rain shouldn’t be of any inconvenience to her. From a top yard who should act over the trip and on the ground she just can’t be ignored. ALJEZEERA (E/W) WILD IRISH ROSE (E/W)

15:00 Goodwood Up until yesterdays rain I was all ready to tip Headway however in his three outings he’s only ever tackled firmer going and how he’ll handle this soft ground is open for debate. If he does handle it he should take all the beating but it’s too big a question mark over a horse who’s vying for favouritism. One horse that wont be too put out by cut in the ground is the Charlie Hills trained Nebo who won his maiden at Newbury on soft going. He has a tick in the box marked “ground” which is more than most of his rivals has and this consistent performer should be there come the finish line. NEBO (E/W)

15:35 Goodwood A decent looking renewal of this years Group 1 Nassau Stakes looks a mouth watering contest where we wait with bated breath to see if Winter (One of the best fillies Aidan O’Brien has ever trained according to the Irishman) can continue her winning streak going. A step up to one and a quarter miles shouldn’t trouble her and neither should the ground and is why she’s today’s best bet. Of the remainder Queens Trust needs to improve on her two outings this year and I wouldn’t necessarily consider her the biggest threat to the favourite, despite what the bookies seem to think. Nezwaah may be a Group 1 winner but she probably needs to improve on her previous performance in what looks a more competitive race today. So Mi Dar would give Winter something to think about if, and it’s a big if, we knew how fit she was. Without a run this year the likelihood is she’ll need to get a race under her belt before pushing the main protagonist all the way. Likely to be there or thereabouts but I would guess that place money is the best she can hope for. One horse that does make me take note lies right at the bottom of the race card. A second placed finish behind subsequent multiple Group 1 winner Roly Poly looks like fantastic form. Wuheida was making her seasonal reappearance last time and she’ll undoubtedly improve on that and looks the forgotten horse. At current double figure odds it seems that she’s being drastically overlooked and I’m hoping us punters can capitalise. WINTER (WIN) – NAP WUHEIDA (E/W)
