FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS

16:45 Dundalk

Although this is going to be his tenth race since his last success I still think Harry's Bar is worth siding with. His 5th of 15 in a very competitive listed race last time out is some of the best recent form on offer and he was also very close when 2nd here two starts back. He takes a marked drop in class and with Wayne Lordan booked for the ride he makes tonnes of appeal. I'm convinced he'll return to the winners enclosure this evening.

His nearest market rival is Andrew Oliver's The Highway Rat. The three year old holds a 100% record over course and distance so a return to this trip is a positive move from connections. That being said his disappointing last performance is too much to ignore and may find one or two too good.

At double figure odds Pulse Of Shanghai may go closer than the bookies might expect. Claimed a win when last seen over course and distance which made for a very encouraging performance. He returns to a venue where he holds a great record and off a similar handicap mark when successful. Not the most likely victor but certainly has it in his locker to upset the apple cart for each way punters.

HARRY'S BAR (WIN)

20:30 Newcastle

The eighth and final race on the card at Newcastle is a very competitive Class 5 sprint where I'm set to side with one of the quartet of course and distance winners in the lineup.

Queen Of Kalahari should relish a return to Newcastle where she holds a very consistent record. Likely to finish the mix once more and holds a decent each way claim but looks to be in the grips of the handicap and doesn't represent an obvious winner.

Although it may seem a tad boring to pick out the current market principle Buniann is the favourite for a reason. He hasn't won in a while but his last success came over course and distance in a better race back in March. He's been pretty consistent on turf this season without claiming a victory and is now off his last winning mark. Kevin Stott returns to the saddle (the jockey who rode him to his last success) and as such all things point to a very bold showing.

Another Angel is the likeliest danger after claiming back to back seconds at Wolverhampton and here at Newcastle in his last performance. He steps up in grade but has been successful at this level previously so that shouldn't act as a negative. On a very attractive mark he should go close once again but without a win in his last seventeen starts I expect him to be the bridesmaid and not the bride once more.
