FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS

19:30 Dundalk We start tonight’s action later on the card as we tackle a seven furlong handicap that looks mightily competitive. Indrahar looks to go one better than its last course and distance performance when she finished second despite being drawn out in stall twelve. With a better draw this time around and only a one pound rise for her last effort she is undoubtedly the one to beat. That being said at a best price of 11/4 it doesn’t represent an abundance of value and an each way option seems more preferable in such an open looking contest. Both Mark Halford trained horses look set to have great chances both having course and distance victories to their name and both looking to uphold their unbeaten all-weather records. Although Kadra looks the stables first string I’m siding with Suvenna who, despite being lumped with a thirteen pound rise in the weights, has a favourable draw and is set to go close at a big price. Of the remaining runners another course and distance winner, who hails from the yard of Tommy Stack, Victorious Secret looks to have a chance but a disadvantageous draw maybe her undoing. Suvenna (E/W)

20:30 Dundalk The penultimate race on tonight’s card in Ireland is where you’ll locate our penultimate selection. Reddot Express is a horse who’s attitude I have previously been very high on. It has gone close in its last two outings however comes into the race with a very short price. Although it’s expected to go close and with the addition of blinkers likely to bring about some improvement it doesn’t look like the idea of the winner to me. The biggest threat to my selection looks to come from “old-timer” Rotter Baron who aims to role back the years. Now residing off a handicap mark lower than its previous all-weather success and coming out of stall one it seems massively overpriced at around 16/1. It has a much better chance than his price suggests and if the clocks can be rolled back is likely to go well. Miss Mariiinsky gets the nod as this likely improving filly looks to do better than her fourth placed finish when last seen at this venue. She finished less than two lengths behind the winner (Victorious Secret, who is fancied for an earlier race tonight) that night and has a couple of pounds less burden to carry. Stall 2 is bound to help and she looks one set to go better now back on an artificial surface. Miss Mariinsky (E/W)

21:00 Dundalk Connections may have the favourite in the previous race but I like the chances of their runner in the closing contest. Reddot Roman tackles the all-weather for the first time in his career and looks to find the winners enclosure since winning his maiden at Gowran. The horse certainly has plenty of scope for improvement and coming out of the yard of Mark Halford has to be respected. Another horse that is likely to go close at an even greater price is Chris Hayes’ Taqaseem. A third placed finish at Gowran last time out should stand him in good stead for this but stall 9 isn’t very convenient. Previous course winners Gretzky, Bittern and My Fantasea all demand close attention but never the less it’s the Halford runner that will see our money tonight. Reddot Roman (E/W)
