15:25 Carlisle
After a dramatic week at Cheltenham, it's good to see some decent races still taking place. We have a 3 mile handicap chase at Carlisle that catches the eye.
The much inform Skelton team partner up here on the top weight Captain Chaos. The ground, soft, should suit perfectly. He's a consistent 3 miler so the trip is no problem. The only doubt is with the weight. With a team in such good form, I believe he is the correct market favourite.
Venetia Williams' Gardefort is the lowest weight in the field. Having not had a trip over the 3 miles, the stamina question has to be raised. Gardefort on form, seems to be able to go on any ground so I don't see an issue there. A clear rival to Captain Chaos.
Late Romantic is a proven 3 miler, however he is also a heavy ground specialist. The team will be doing the rain dance on Saturday night in the hope that his chances of performing are increased.
Captain Chaos for me is the rightful favourite 24 hours before the flag drop. I think the Skelton team disappointed at Cheltenham during the week, but when you eliminate the domination of the Irish, they still had some decent runs and I think they'll be back to form on Sunday.
