Rory Paddock finds five each-way selections at big prices this Wednesday that could make up a fantastic Lucky 31 of big priced tips.
14:05 Dundalk A handful of course and distance winners are set to lineup in the opener at Dundalk and the first of five selections here this afternoon comes from this cluster of former victors.
Although the likes of veteran Danz Gift cannot be ignored it's the Gerard O'Leary trained BLASTOFMAGIC who can produce a solid performance. A more encouraging third when last seen here at this venue. That came after a 116 day absence and as such he should strip much fitter this time around. A drop in weight for that performance should also be of benefit and at around 8/1 looks a very tasty price.

Seven year old TOUCH OF GOLD has been mightily disappointing in all seven starts this year. Having a mixed campaign both on the flat and over hurdles she’s not finished any better in mid-division however that has now left Michael Kennedy’s charge on a very attractive handicap mark. The former course and distance winner resides below her last all-weather winning mark and a chance should be taken, especially with Chris Hayes booked for the ride.

Unfortunately in order to see our selection line up in this race we’ll have to rely upon another horse being withdrawn. As a first reserve SAYESSE needs to see a rival taken out beforehand but the six year old course and distance winner cannot be ignored. He hails from the yard of Noel Kelly who is currently operating at a 25% winning strike rate. Furthermore young jockey Andrew Slattery is also hitting great form of late with three wins from his last eleven rides. The gelding also has a 50% winning rate over course and distance. Now off 6lbs lower than her last winning mark, despite his poor recent form, looks a horse who could spring a surprise.

More renowned for his prowess with national hunt horses trainer Gavin Cromwell enters two runners into this one mile flat contest. Both have former course and distance success and both have solid outside chances however INNAMORARE is the one I’m set to side with. A more impressive performance when fourth here last month after a near 12 month absence from racing. She should come on massively with a recent run now under her belt and with a solid course and distance record that reads as one win and three places from six starts here she has every chance of finishing in the mix.

The eighth and final race on Dundalk’s card sees a total of fourteen set to lineup for this seven furlong contest. Once again I find myself opting to side with a horse who’s claimed victory over the trip and at this venue previously. EACHARN has raced here at Dundalk on a total of 26 occasions and finished in the top three eleven times. Of those eleven times, ten came over seven furlongs and all ten came off a higher handicap mark than he has here. The downside is the unfortunate wide draw but the trainer has sent out two winners from his last nine runners and if he can overcome the disadvantageous stall 15 should go well at a big price.
