15:40 Ascot - John Guest Racing Bengough Stakes (Group 3)
This Group 3 sprint contest looks very open with a case easily to be made for a good proportion of the ten runners that are set to lineup.
Currently at the head of the market is the Sheikh Mohammed Obaid owned CAPE BYRON who's course form is blistering. With four victories here at Ascot, including on soft ground he makes him a very worthy favourite. Some may see it as a negative that he returns after a 350 day layoff however he's won after a sizable break before, so that shouldn't be too much of a down side. His trainer Roger Varian is doing well with eight recent winners and all things point towards a horse who's hard to look past.
Veteran The Tin Man would be a welcome winner having produced some top-class performances in his career to date however he's looked a shadow of his former self and I think James Fanshawe's charge has place claims at best.
At bigger prices both Snazzy Jazzy and Breathtaking Look could go well. Both have victories on softer ground, both have been pretty consistent this term and both have conditions to suit. If you were looking for an each way alternative I couldn't put you off either.
