12:20 Southwell
The opening contest at Southwell sees a highly competitive five furlong sprint as ten runners look set to line up. A major indicator to success here at Southwell is previous course form. The course is very unique so if a horse acts well at this venue it boads well for their chances.
Ustath won their last two starts and aims to make it a hat-trick of victories here at Southwell. Having been unbeaten here should see him go very close but this looks a tougher contest and I’m siding against him.
A Go Go, Dark Side Prince and The Defiant all claimed second in their latest performances and shouldn’t be far away once again however it’s the Alan Brown trained BLACKCURRENT that gets the nod. Disappointing on the turf most recently a return to the all-weather looks a promising move especially to a course he’s placed second at twice in four starts here. Given the very helpful draw of stall one should also aid his chances and although he has to overcome a layoff is weighted to go well.
