17:55 Kempton
Tollard Royal is a Ribchester colt who holds an entry into the Group Two, Royal Lodge Stakes. He’s the current favourite for this race, which isn’t surprising given that he’s a George Boughey two-year-old. That alone stands him in good stead but anything can happen with a colt on his first day at school. Moreover, he’s the favourite and there’s no fun in that!
Tom Marquand, as always, is in fantastic form and Peak Perfect has a good chance at continuing said form. He was third on his debut at Ffos Las but didn’t get a clear run that day, which suggests he could have performed better than he did. Additionally, you’d imagine he’ll relish the step up in trip. However, he switches surfaces and connections aren’t in as good form as others.
Andrew Balding is enjoying a very health lead in the Trainers’ Championship and has sent three debutants to Kempton this year, two of which were victorious. So it’s no surprise to see Berkshire Breeze be supported in the market. As if that wasn’t enough, reigning champion jockey Oisin Murphy is the leading most jockey at Kempton in the last month. It wouldn’t be hard to imagine that connections have sent the colt to Kempton with a purpose and hopefully something special will happen on his first day at school.
