Wetherby's big race of the day comes in the form of the Grade 3 Rowland Meyrick chase, the only race shown on ITV from the course this Boxing Day.

At the time of writing Canelo is the early favourite and looks a big danger having not been outside the top two in his last two starts. Hard to discredit his spot at the head of the market but I find myself looking away from JP McManus' runner.

The likes of Spiritofthegames should also have a say but having never tackled a trip like this before still has questions left to answer.

I've opted for a runner at a mouth watering price of around 9/1. WANDRIN STAR produced a very credible performance when claiming second after a 10 month absence last time. He wasn't far behind that day and should come on plenty for that run.

Trainer Kim Bailey is working at a 19% strike rate and the combination with jockey David Bass has produced consistent results this season. The nine year old is the only one in the lineup to have previously won over this distance and as such I expect to see him finish in the money once again.
