Close Brothers Red Rum Handicap Chase

2m

As always this is a competitive two mile handicap chase, with the going currently good.

Before Midnight will relish being on a sound surface. He ran the champion chase runner up close on his most recent start, receiving only four pounds. This horse likes to race prominently which is usually a positive round here.

Frero Banbou ran a remarkable race at Cheltenham last time, looking likely to be pulled up at one point after getting detached. He then proceeded to make up ground  hand over fist to finish third only six lengths behind the winner. However good that run was, he won’t get away with that on this quick circuit if he does the same again.

Gunsight Ridge and King D’argent are also prominent racers, and certainly are viable place options.

A chance is taken with Dancing On My Own as a value each way option at a big price.

Bits and pieces of his hurdles form makes him look attractively handicapped over the bigger obstacles. He hasn’t really had a chance to prove himself yet over fences, but there’s a chance we haven’t seen the best of him yet. He’s certainly worth chancing.
