Marsh Chase (Melling Chase)

2m4f

Fakir D’oudairies bids to win this Grade 1 chase for a second time, and certainly ticks a lot boxes.

He’s versatile regarding the going and he’s sure to be there abouts. However his price will reflect that and there maybe some value elsewhere.

Funambule Sivola ran a mighty race in the champion chase to finish runner up. There is always a question mark at this meeting though about horses that have put it all in at Cheltenham if they will be able to repeat those efforts. Also this horses very best form is over the bare two miles.

Two horses that skipped Cheltenham are Hitman and Captain Guinness.

Hitman keeps hinting at being at top class type without quite delivering yet. He’s only six and there’s plenty of time for improvement, particularly stepping up in trip.

Captain Guinness is the selection. This horse used to be a keen going type, but has become much more relaxed with experience. He usually keeps good company and always runs with credit. At this stage of his career this trip could be exactly what he needs.

CAPTAIN GUINESS (E/W)
