Poundland Maghull Novices' Chase

2m

This likely revolves around Arkle hero, Edwardstone and whether he is ready to go again after his impressive victory at the Festival. Clearly progressive and unbeaten when staying on his feet over fences, he is very much the one to beat and has gone well here before over smaller obstacles.

Gentleman De Mee didn't look all that natural over fences on his first couple of starts, however, since then he has looked a completely different proposition and he arrives here on the back of a couple of demolition jobs in Ireland. Likely to be towards the front, one suspects Willie Mullins has always had this race in-mind though he will have to improve to turn over the favourite and he can ill afford to jump poorly.

Third Time Lucki is no mug over fences and he will appreciate the likely strong gallop on offer, he has twice failed to get the better of Edwardstone this term though and it is very hard to see why he would here.

The rest look to be making up the numbers and so it is Edwardstone who is taken to keep up his winning sequence in a disappointing renewal.
